Art historian, scholar and curator with extensive experience in research, teaching, exhibitions and collaborative cultural projects developed with various international partners, including academic and contemporary art institutions, research platforms, biennales, museums and cultural centres, especially in the Global South.

From 2013-14 to 2016 she was head of the MA in Fine Arts at Alle School of Arts and Design – Addis Ababa University, which she set up, as the first postgraduate program in arts of the country.

Main research and curatorial activities, undertaken in Europe, United States, Africa and Latin America, focus on contemporary art and art criticism beyond the West (particularly Africa and Latin America); postcolonial and decolonial theories; comparative modernities; digital cultures and their development as platforms for artists and humanities.

Awarded with a doctorate in 2008 from Sapienza University (Rome, Italy), after spending a year as visiting scholar at  the Africana Studies and Research Center in the Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) and another year at the Istituto Superior de Arte and Bienal de La Habana (Havana, Cuba).
